Yoga Nidra - Learning to Rest

Thanks to my friend Tara at MAP Ayurveda for the little Sleeping Lady of Malta (read about her here)

Dear reader, I’m delighted to share here that I recently passed the final assessment of a six-month Yoga Nidra training course, accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga.

Yoga Nidra - often referred to as yogic sleep - is a deeply restorative and nourishing practice that can help relieve stress and support the body to restore itself.

Now that I’m in my perimenopause era, I find it a great practice for helping manage my energy levels throughout the day and it was definitely a big part of my healing post-surgery earlier this year.

I’m hoping that there’ll be opportunities to share Yoga Nidra with you all over coming months but if you’ve never come across it before, here are 3 things you might like to know:

  1. No special skills or experience are needed, just a quiet place to lie down (yes, lying down!) where you’ll be warm and comfortable - and undisturbed!

  2. It’s a gentle practice that takes us through different states of awareness and brings us home to rest.

  3. Making it a regular part of life can support healing and vitality.

If you’re curious and would like to give it a try, get in touch or check out the Heart Rest recordings page over on the Heart of Living Yoga website.
